The red carpet will be rolled out in both Toronto and Hamilton in September. Toronto’s TIFF is celebrating its 43rd anniversary and running from September 6-16.  And this year Hamilton is host to the Canadian Country Music Awards with events running from September 6-9.

The style exerts at Milli are of course always ready to help put together the perfect outfit should you find yourself walking the red carpet or attending any star-powered events. Both Toronto and Hamilton can be proud of the home grown stars that walk red carpets all over the world. Here are a few of our favourites from both cities:



The performer that made #thesix a household name for Toronto continues to call the city his home. Before he was winning Grammys  and touring the world he lived in Forest Hill and was a Degrassi star.

Jim Carrey, Howie Mandel & Mike Myers

There must have been something funny in the GTA’s water as Carrey, Mandel & Myers were all born in Toronto.



Eugene Levy 

Comedian, actor and father to Toronto born actor Dan Levy, Eugene has been making people laugh for decades.  Although often spotted in Rosedale, near our Toronto store, he was in fact born in Hamilton. Levy now finds himself both behind and in front of the camera in Schitt’s Creek that also stars his son and daughter.


Martin Short 

Little known fact: Martin Short attended McMaster University, and had a role in the campus production of Godspell in 1972.


Karen Kain

Prima ballerina Karen Kain tip toed her way from Hamilton to The National Ballet School and onto the world stage dancing with the likes of Nureyev.



The Arkells

The five members of this band all met at McMaster University and named their group after a street on campus.
