FALL 2017 TREND REPORTWith fall just around the corner, our store has begun to change colours just as the leaves soon will. Get ready to face the cooler weather in style with the help of these Fall 2017 trends!
Florals for fall? – Now that’s ground-breaking! There is no need to shove your prints to the back of the closet this upcoming season because these bold patterns can confidently be worn all year round. As No. 21, Preen, Erdem, and Alberta Ferretti repeatedly proved on their fall 2017 runways: brightly coloured roses, geometric shapes, and pastel paisleys are no longer exclusive to the warmer months. Whether your style consists of mixing and matching boldly patterned tops and trousers, or making a statement with one single yet exciting piece, we have it all. This season, get ready to fall in love with prints all over again and don’t be afraid to mix them up!
BLUE JEAN BABY
Though the summer of 2017 has already seen an abundance of denim, whether embellished, embroidered or cropped, this upcoming fall season does not prove to be any different – and we are definitely okay with that. Whether you are looking for the perfect pair of jeans to sport on casual Fridays or are wondering just how oversized your oversized denim jacket should be, we’ve got you covered. Both light and dark washes will be trending this fall, as well as denim on denim. So get your patriotism ready, because as Mother of Pearl, Red Valentino, and SJYP demonstrated on their fall 2017 runways, the Canadian tuxedo isn’t just for Canadians anymore.
POP OF COLOUR
With fall just around the corner, be sure not to shy away from colour. Just because the leaves begin to turn brown does not mean your wardrobe has to! “Millennial Pink” has made quite the name for itself during the past couple of seasons, and it is with no surprise that this pretty pastel is here to stay. Along with pink, fall 2017 can also be expected to be painted with shades of turquoise, red, and orange thanks to the likes of Marni, No. 21, and Sportmax, to name a few. If you wish to be louder than the leaves or would prefer to dawn a more muted palette this fall, Milli has pieces that are sure to brighten up any woman’s closet.
Fall can certainly become boring fast if all your daily wardrobe consists of are pants. Dare to be different this upcoming season by mixing in a few fun and exciting skirts. Of course, the pencil skirt is always a key piece in every woman’s closet; however, this year we suggest that you experiment a little and let your skirt do most of the talking. Novelty skirts have the ability to take any outfit from drab to fab, no matter what they are paired with. The fall 2017 runways have brought us many different styles. Whether you wish to dress in MSGM’s ruffled and knife pleated silhouettes or Lanvin’s out of this world metallics, there is no doubt that any one of these novelty skirts will spice up your outfits this fall season.
SPRING 2017 TREND REPORTSpring 2017 has already hit the runways and our store. Mother Nature’s sure to follow suit when she sees the trends for herself.
We’ve said it once and we’ll say it again: this print captures springtime whimsy at its finest. Delicate and bold florals by designers like Marni, Harvey Faircloth, and Seventy will brighten any day, rain or shine.
Bring out your 70s rocker inclinations (but leave behind the eyeliner) this season by adding a touch of metallic to your everyday wardrobe. Need help conjuring up the past? We’ll show you how to seamlessly incorporate pieces by Tomorrowland, Marie Saint Pierre, and Brunello Cucinelli.
THE BRIGHT AND THE BEAUTIFUL
Thought you couldn’t wear bright colours? Think again. There’s a hue for everyone. Lemony yellows, sealike ceruleans, and rich fuchsias by Moschino Boutique and Etro will bring a pigmented punch to any wardrobe.
The most luxurious print is making yet another comeback this season, but in lighter forms by the likes of Norma Kamali.
Every classic sophisticate needs a modern blouse. These days designers are reinventing the corporate button-down and bringing new styles to soaring heights. Pair your Luisa Cerano, Tara Jarmon, or Self Portrait blouse with cropped pants for a chic office look.
Thanks to pieces by MSGM, No.21 and Marni; patterns like gingham, plaid, polka dots and more can happily coexist in one outfit! We’ll give you tips on how to mix and match for individualistic charm.
AN EMBELLISHMENT LOVE AFFAIR
Our philosophy when it comes to unexpected embellishments: more is more. Embellishments make simple pieces special and worth a little investment. We take our cues from the Cambio pants, Needle & Thread dresses, and rhinestone ZCD sneakers we have in-store.
Stripes can be worn year round, but get full fashion visibility in warmer months. Designs by Luisa Cerano will help you take the straight and narrow.
A delicate fabric for a delicate season, brought to us by the likes of Monique Lhuillier, No 21, Tara Jarmon, and Self Portrait. Visit us at the store to find your perfect match on the demure to sheer scale.

FUN AND FUR REAL
We’re excited to show off designers Cinzia Rocca, Harvey Faircloth and SAM’s take on real and “fun” (faux) fur at Milli this season. Another trend that’s here to stay… And styled in many different ways.
SPRING 2016 TREND REPORTOur favourite trends to liven up your wardrobe.
EARN YOUR STRIPES
Stripes are to spring what fur is to winter! Shed your shearlings and show off every type of stripe–vertical, horizontal, thin, wide, colourful, black and white. We have wearable stripes by Tomorrowland, Marc Cain and more that will make you feel more stylish than any sailor.
WHO WEARS THE PANTS?
This spring is all about pants that are anything but ordinary–wide leg, pyjama, pleat, cropped, in print or solid are all perfect styles for work or play. Skinny & boyfriend jeans have been jazzed up with playful embellishments for the weekend. Whatever your choice, it is all about the pant!
BEDROOM TO BOARDROOM
We’ve noticed that some of our favourite designers have pulled inspiration from lingerie and loungewear for spring. We love the idea of silk and lace camisoles layered under sweaters or cardigans. Slip dresses are now haute couture (ask McQueen, Dior, or Celine). And pull-on-pants are being tailored expertly–a smart look for the office and comfortable to boot.
MADE YOU BLUSH
Go nude! That’s right. We’ve seen monochromatic looks in nude colours everywhere, and we think they’re perfect for spring. Fashion critics say that colours in the versatile nude family–”hazy taupe”, “oyster pink”, “rose quartz”, etc.– are the new neutrals for women. We can help you find the right nude for you that will flatter your skin tone and add freshness to your wardrobe.
Each spring, we look to fashion icons like Iris Apfel for printspiration. The 90 yr old New Yorker effortlessly mixes patterns, textures, and hues, reminding us that fashion should be fun. Gucci’s most recent “geek chic” solidified the fact that mixing prints is in. We’ve brightened up the store with playful prints by Dorothee Schumacher, Strenesse, Malene Birger and more.
FALL 2015 TREND REPORTStaying chic throughout the seasons
TIMELESS. CHIC. BOLD.Animal prints have stood the test of time, becoming a fashion symbol that represents style and status. From Jackie Kennedy wearing an animal-print coat in the 1950s to Dolce & Gabbana integrating it into the DNA of every piece, animal print is here to stay. Stripes and spots, real and faux – it’s time to embrace your wild side at Milli this Fall.
BROCADE IS BACK
HIGH ANKLE BOOTSThe boot, a staple in a woman’s wardrobe, is a defining piece for a gorgeous silhouette. This season, designers are molding the ankle bootie into a beautiful chunky heeled mid-calf boot that pairs seamlessly with cropped pants as well as a midi skirt.
BOLD BAGSThis season is all about going bold with a great bag. From the runway to street style, a fun, overstated bag is one of Fall’s big hits.
UNDERSTATED MINIMALISMA soft break from the eclectic pattern mixing, minimalism is at its finest come Fall. For those who feel that the over-embellished and extra-accessorized isn’t for them, there is peace and balance in the understated. The minimalism of a plush cashmere wrap or chic cut of the classic trench coat goes a long way this season.
Ultra-mod has returned this season, and designers have reimagined it with a more relaxed, modern twist. You’ll be likely to see softer versions of the A-line dress, layered with a collared blouse or embellished with a textured neckline.
