The only thing that is making summer coming to an end even the slightest bit bearable is the idea of new fall clothes. See which trends Milli has deemed worthy of some closet space this upcoming season!

As Coco Chanel once said, “A woman needs ropes and ropes of pearls”. But as recent times have proven, pearls are not just for necklaces anymore. This upcoming season, it is all about wearing pearls anywhere but around your around neck. From handbags to heels, these little white gems have been making their statements all over the runways. As Sebastian has proven with their pearl encrusted heels, and Mother of Pearl has shown in their Fall 2017 collection, pearls have the power to add class to just about anything. Of course, the pearl necklace will always be a staple item for every chic woman; but for the time being, don’t shy away from trying something new and exciting. With infinite possibilities, pearls allow the world to be your oyster. Come into Milli and see for yourself!

Since 1966, when Yves Saint Laurent shook up the fashion industry by presenting ‘Le Smoking’ jacket to a world that was not yet used to women in pants, variations of this style have continued to be a must-have in every woman’s closet. Great novelty jackets, which have drawn their inspiration from YSL’s ‘Le Smoking’, are what should be draped across your shoulders this upcoming fall season. Here at Milli, we have just the jacket you have been looking for. With styles ranging from long to short, fitted to oversized, and plain to patterned, there is surely something for everyone. Styled with the matching trousers or with the also trending denim for a more casual look, a fabulous jacket never fails to elevate any outfit. As displayed by the likes of No. 21, Moschino Boutique, and Marie Saint Pierre on their FW17 runways, there is always a time and a place for business.

We all have those days when we simply do not what to part with our most comfortable sweatpants, or leave our favourite hoodie behind. However, this upcoming fall season, you won’t have to! Thanks to the fashion influence of Harvey Faircloth and No Ka’Oi, athletic wear is no longer exclusive to the gym. Pair the classic, single-stripped sweatpant with some heels and a tailored jacket and you’ll be set for the office. Or wear that cozy hoodie with a pair of great trousers – you’re ready for brunch! If this trend excites you just as much as is it does us, take it to the next level and allow your footwear to follow. Give your feet a break from the stilettos and run straight into the weekend with a pair of “fashion sneakers”. ZCD and Pollini’s versions of this sporty trend, available at Milli, are sure to put a stylish spring in anyone’s step. So get comfortable, because this look is definitely here to stay.

Don’t let velvet fool you; it may taste delicious in a ruby coloured cupcake, but it looks even better in a closet. With summer quickly coming to an end, trade in that airy chiffon for something a little warmer, but just as pretty! Whether it be with a dress, a purse, or some fabulous booties, let velvet be the staple fabric that holds your wardrobe together this coming season. Of course, there are countless options to choose from besides red velvet in the fashion world, which makes this trend even more fun to follow. If you are wishing to make a statement come September, Milli has the perfect pair of velvet sneakers for you, from An Hour And A Shower! As Luisa Cerano, Lanvin, and Antonio Marras have all presented to us through their most recent collections, this luxurious fabric provides us with pieces that make transitioning into the fall that much easier. It seems that both on our plates and on our hangers, velvet can do no wrong.

Usually, we are all for breaking the rules; but, this season we have one for our #MilliMuses to follow: attention to detail is key. Lace and ruffles have certainly made a name for themselves on the runways of MSGM, Self Portrait, Preen, and Paule Ka. This coming fall, it seems that the smallest elements are making some of the biggest fashion statements. Culottes with ruffled hems, blouses with ruffled bell sleeves, and dresses ruffled from top to bottom are all part of this ultra-feminine trend. In addition, lace details found on necklines, hemlines, and entire dresses are bringing even more elegance our way this upcoming season. Worn together or worn apart, ruffles and lace are surely taking over the fall fashion scene, as well as both of our Milli locations. With a trend this pretty, we are definitely not complaining!

With fall just around the corner, our store has begun to change colours just as the leaves soon will. Get ready to face the cooler weather in style with the help of these Fall 2017 trends!

Florals for fall? – Now that’s ground-breaking! There is no need to shove your prints to the back of the closet this upcoming season because these bold patterns can confidently be worn all year round. As No. 21, Preen, Erdem, and Alberta Ferretti repeatedly proved on their fall 2017 runways: brightly coloured roses, geometric shapes, and pastel paisleys are no longer exclusive to the warmer months. Whether your style consists of mixing and matching boldly patterned tops and trousers, or making a statement with one single yet exciting piece, we have it all. This season, get ready to fall in love with prints all over again and don’t be afraid to mix them up!

Though the summer of 2017 has already seen an abundance of denim, whether embellished, embroidered or cropped, this upcoming fall season does not prove to be any different – and we are definitely okay with that. Whether you are looking for the perfect pair of jeans to sport on casual Fridays or are wondering just how oversized your oversized denim jacket should be, we’ve got you covered. Both light and dark washes will be trending this fall, as well as denim on denim. So get your patriotism ready, because as Mother of Pearl, Red Valentino, and SJYP demonstrated on their fall 2017 runways, the Canadian tuxedo isn’t just for Canadians anymore.

No woman’s wardrobe is complete without a plethora of blouses in all shapes and colours, and it seems that this upcoming fall season is about to bring us the biggest selection yet; from modern classic styles in all the highlight colours to every print imaginable. Printed or plain, sheer or satin, the blouse is certainly a fall essential. From a day at the office to a night out on the town, this is a piece that can be seamlessly transitioned and styled in a never-ending number of ways. Layer it or wear it on its own – with such versatility, what more could you want? At Milli, we believe you can never have too many!

With fall just around the corner, be sure not to shy away from colour. Just because the leaves begin to turn brown does not mean your wardrobe has to! “Millennial Pink” has made quite the name for itself during the past couple of seasons, and it is with no surprise that this pretty pastel is here to stay. Along with pink, fall 2017 can also be expected to be painted with shades of turquoise, red, and orange thanks to the likes of Marni, No. 21, and Sportmax, to name a few. If you wish to be louder than the leaves or would prefer to dawn a more muted palette this fall, Milli has pieces that are sure to brighten up any woman’s closet.

Fall can certainly become boring fast if all your daily wardrobe consists of are pants.  Dare to be different this upcoming season by mixing in a few fun and exciting skirts. Of course, the pencil skirt is always a key piece in every woman’s closet; however, this year we suggest that you experiment a little and let your skirt do most of the talking. Novelty skirts have the ability to take any outfit from drab to fab, no matter what they are paired with. The fall 2017 runways have brought us many different styles. Whether you wish to dress in MSGM’s ruffled and knife pleated silhouettes or Lanvin’s out of this world metallics, there is no doubt that any one of these novelty skirts will spice up your outfits this fall season.

Spring 2017 has already hit the runways and our store. Mother Nature’s sure to follow suit when she sees the trends for herself.

We’ve said it once and we’ll say it again: this print captures springtime whimsy at its finest. Delicate and bold florals by designers like Marni, Harvey Faircloth, and Seventy will brighten any day, rain or shine.

Bring out your 70s rocker inclinations (but leave behind the eyeliner) this season by adding a touch of metallic to your everyday wardrobe. Need help conjuring up the past? We’ll show you how to seamlessly incorporate pieces by Tomorrowland, Marie Saint Pierre, and Brunello Cucinelli.

The bomber jacket is back by popular demand. A fall/winter 2016 regular, this outerwear staple has been revisited in lightweight materials perfect for springtime wear by Dorothee Schumacher and Pinko. We also have a special metallic number by Brunello Cucinelli.

Thought you couldn’t wear bright colours? Think again. There’s a hue for everyone. Lemony yellows, sealike ceruleans, and rich fuchsias by Moschino Boutique and Etro will bring a pigmented punch to any wardrobe.

The most luxurious print is making yet another comeback this season, but in lighter forms by the likes of Norma Kamali.

Why not let one shoulder feel the spring winds this season? This trend is a little flirty, but can be styled as sensibly as you’d like. We’ll show you how with pieces by Autumn Cashmere and Dorothee Schumacher.

Every classic sophisticate needs a modern blouse. These days designers are reinventing the corporate button-down and bringing new styles to soaring heights. Pair your Luisa Cerano, Tara Jarmon, or Self Portrait blouse with cropped pants for a chic office look.

Thanks to pieces by MSGM, No.21 and Marni; patterns like gingham, plaid, polka dots and more can happily coexist in one outfit! We’ll give you tips on how to mix and match for individualistic charm.

Designers everywhere are letting their Spanish and Caribbean influences translate into breezy yet bold ruffles. Thanks to the help of designs by Marie Saint-Pierre and Versace, this trend can be interpreted for office and girls’ night outfits alike.

Our philosophy when it comes to unexpected embellishments: more is more. Embellishments make simple pieces special and worth a little investment. We take our cues from the Cambio pants, Needle & Thread dresses, and rhinestone ZCD sneakers we have in-store.

Stripes can be worn year round, but get full fashion visibility in warmer months. Designs by Luisa Cerano will help you take the straight and narrow.

A delicate fabric for a delicate season, brought to us by the likes of Monique Lhuillier, No 21, Tara Jarmon, and Self Portrait. Visit us at the store to find your perfect match on the demure to sheer scale.

From runway to wardrobe... Trends for the upcoming season.

Playful brooches, patches, pins and appliqués are a great way to finish off any staple outfit. We love Marni and Tanya Taylor’s takes on modern embellishments. All’s well that’s embellished well!

Cropped and flared pants are a figure-flattering update to traditional slacks. We have a perfect pair by Joseph–it’s high-waisted, and is cropped right above the ankles to show off a great sneaker, mule, or chunky heel.

Our favourite luxe fabric is making a comeback! Designers like No 21 and Carven are using it in rich tones and vibrant colours as accent texture in collars and cuffs, shoes, scarves, handbags, and more.

Spotted: leopard prints by Lanvin. Look fierce this season in a statement coat, or a more understated but equally meow-worthy accessory. They call it the catwalk for a reason…

The boudoir-inspired trend is here to stay, and we love showing it in feminine lace. With a few simple tricks, we’ll help you take this sheer fabric from day to night. Shop styles by Malene Birger and Erdem in-store.

The bomber jacket was given the street style stamp of approval, and has now reached high-fashion status. Throw this Dorothee Schumacher bomber over anything–from an off-duty daytime look, to an evening gown–for a utilitarian edge.

We’re excited to show off designers Cinzia Rocca, Harvey Faircloth and SAM’s take on real and “fun” (faux) fur at Milli this season. Another trend that’s here to stay… And styled in many different ways.

Our favourite trends to liven up your wardrobe.

Stripes are to spring what fur is to winter! Shed your shearlings and show off every type of stripe–vertical, horizontal, thin, wide, colourful, black and white. We have wearable stripes by Tomorrowland, Marc Cain and more that will make you feel more stylish than any sailor.

This spring is all about pants that are anything but ordinary–wide leg, pyjama, pleat, cropped, in print or solid are all perfect styles for work or play. Skinny & boyfriend jeans have been jazzed up with playful embellishments for the weekend. Whatever your choice, it is all about the pant!

We’ve noticed that some of our favourite designers have pulled inspiration from lingerie and loungewear for spring. We love the idea of silk and lace camisoles layered under sweaters or cardigans. Slip dresses are now haute couture (ask McQueen, Dior, or Celine). And pull-on-pants are being tailored expertly–a smart look for the office and comfortable to boot.

Go nude! That’s right. We’ve seen monochromatic looks in nude colours everywhere, and we think they’re perfect for spring. Fashion critics say that colours in the versatile nude family–”hazy taupe”, “oyster pink”, “rose quartz”, etc.– are the new neutrals for women. We can help you find the right nude for you that will flatter your skin tone and add freshness to your wardrobe.

Each spring, we look to fashion icons like Iris Apfel for printspiration. The 90 yr old New Yorker effortlessly mixes patterns, textures, and hues, reminding us that fashion should be fun. Gucci’s most recent “geek chic” solidified the fact that mixing prints is in. We’ve brightened up the store with playful prints by Dorothee Schumacher, Strenesse, Malene Birger and more.

Staying chic throughout the seasons

Animal prints have stood the test of time, becoming a fashion symbol that represents style and status. From Jackie Kennedy wearing an animal-print coat in the 1950s to Dolce & Gabbana integrating it into the DNA of every piece, animal print is here to stay. Stripes and spots, real and faux – it’s time to embrace your wild side at Milli this Fall.

A centuries-old design, brocade is back paired with bold colours. Found in everything from evening gowns to bomber jackets, this is a must-have pattern for fall.

The boot, a staple in a woman’s wardrobe, is a defining piece for a gorgeous silhouette.  This season, designers are molding the ankle bootie into a beautiful chunky heeled mid-calf boot that pairs seamlessly with cropped pants as well as a midi skirt.

This season is all about going bold with a great bag.  From the runway to street style, a fun, overstated bag is one of Fall’s big hits.

A soft break from the eclectic pattern mixing, minimalism is at its finest come Fall.  For those who feel that the over-embellished and extra-accessorized isn’t for them, there is peace and balance in the understated. The minimalism of a plush cashmere wrap or chic cut of the classic trench coat goes a long way this season.

Ultra-mod has returned this season, and designers have reimagined it with a more relaxed, modern twist. You’ll be likely to see softer versions of the A-line dress, layered with a collared blouse or embellished with a textured neckline.

With contemporary sportswear on the rise, it’s no surprise that designers are dedicating entire collections to the whimsical bohemian vibe.  A more relaxed, yet chic, appeal to sportswear can be seen in impeccable fur-lined vests and well-tailored jacquard jumpsuits.

Designers are turning out looks in head-to-toe black this season, which gives you a perfect reason for donning that beautiful cashmere turtleneck sweater, or that perfectly cut black blazer you’ve been waiting to wear this Fall.

Fall is all about mixing and matching patterns. With brands such as Lanvin pulling together houndstooth and stripes, it’s proof that pulling together an eclectic look is very, very stylish this season.
