It’s unbelievable to think that summer is almost over!  Due to all the heatwaves we’ve been experiencing we thought it was a good idea to send out our fall 2019 trend report to cool you down. Pam Cook, our resident Fashion Director and Expert has highlighted these movements in fashion as the ones to help shape your fall style.

Tailored, oversized, belted, unbelted, suits dominated the runways at both New York and Paris Fashion Weeks. Not your typical suiting, the coming season has styled this look in the chicest way possible. You can either keep your suit together for a classic look or break up the combination by pairing your blazer with a flowy skirt or a white T-shirt with oversized trousers. It’s the suit that will take you places … literally, from the office to a night out!  Dries Van Noten and Joseph both have this trend locked down. The highlights are the burgundy suit with floral appliqué from Dries Van Noten and the blazer that goes with everything from Joseph.

A classic tweed topper, cape, coat and skirt is very posh. This year, designers have updated this classic British style with a modern twist. The look was showcased by unexpected pairings like leather skirts, feminine dresses and sporty cropped pants.

Pam advises Milli fashionistas to look at Odeeh when shopping for tweed. Their combination of casual, elegant, formal style draws between traditional and unique tailoring. It’s a perfect fit for the contemporary British aesthetic. Their fall collection encompasses skirts, modern double-faced jackets and beautiful colour combinations: cobalt blue paired with mustard yellow. One of her favourite collections hitting Milli stores that does 70s style in a modern way.

Dorothee Schumacher also embraces this trend. Her oversized velvet pants paired with her tweed topper is the ultimate city look.

What if we told you that florals weren’t only meant to be worn in spring and summer? This fall Red by Valentino showcases florals in a dark, sultry and alluring way. The designers use of deep reds, florals and tweeds is breathtaking. Pam recommends the floral midi dress to be worn with kitten heels for a night out or with combat boots for the weekend.

No one does florals better than Zimmerman. Their fall collection exudes the dark romance style, from chiffon blouses to dresses the collection will have you looking sophisticated and elegant.

It’s time to start marching to the beat of your own drum. You’ll be seeing military fashion having a major moment from outerwear to footwear — you won’t be able to escape the invasion. Designers Dorothee Schumacher and Harvey Faircloth could be your go-to designers for this look. Both offer the utilitarian look with their army green military jackets and cargo pants.

Lions, tigers and snakes oh my! Whether you’re a cheetah or a faux-fur girl it’s time to show your spots this season. Designers Smythe and Sly 010 will have you looking like the Queen of the jungle with their fabulous skirts and jackets. Sly 010 pleated snake skin skirt in pink and black is a unique and stylish combination and a must-have piece in your wardrobe. For the ultimate statement Pam suggests keeping an eye out for Smythe blazers, toppers and faux-fur coats as they are the quintessential items to wear from work to weekend.

This year lace gets an update with edgy silhouettes. Paule Ka offers a modern sophisticated twist to this trend. The lace blouses and lace trimmed skirts – worn together or separately – are the ideal transitional items for the season. The beautiful lace dresses with exposed back zippers by N°21 gives traditional lace a revamp.
