Two designers, one dream — fashion. Alone, the brains behind the Toronto based womenswear label Greta Constantine have very different eyes for design. As a collaborative team however, Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong make sense.

Beginning their partnership in 2006, it did not take long for Pickersgill and Wong to become recognized as the up and coming Canadians to watch in the fashion industry. Much like their label’s name, derived from the combination of Wong’s mother’s name and Pickersgill’s grandfather’s name, Greta Constantine is the epitome of a match made in heaven.

Starting their careers off separately, both Wong and Pickersgill did not have any formal training in fashion. What they did have however, was an abundance of experience. Pickersgill began in Milan working for various well known designers including another one of Canada’s favourite duos, Dsquared2, and the U.K.’s Neil Barret. Wong gained his own hands-on training in Toronto where he first worked as a costume designer for Susan Dicks & Co. It was through this job that Wong was given the opportunity to design costumes for various Hollywood hits including “Chicago”, “Hairspray” and “American Psycho”. Apart, it seemed that these two homegrown talents had enough inspired ideas and passion to make it in the fashion world; but, Wong and Pickersgill quickly discovered that together they have an edge that truly sets them apart. With Wong’s imaginative concepts and Pickersgill’s practical approach,  this Canadian pair complements each other perfectly.

Nicknamed “The Jersey Boys of Toronto” due to their frequent and creative use of the material, Wong and Pickersgill began to show up in the glossy pages of magazines. Appearing in everything from FASHION to Vogue, these Toronto natives soon made their mark on the fashion industry, both at home and internationally. With this kind of publicity often comes popularity. Since their start in the early 2000’s, Wong and Pickersgill have successfully built an empire. With celebrity clientele including Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, Taylor Swift and Angelina Jolie to name a few, the magnitude of Greta Constantine’s success only continues to grow.

Having been nominated for The Womenswear Designer of the Year Award for the 2018 CAFA’s, the ready to wear label of Greta Constantine is perfect for all occasions. From weddings to black tie affairs, their beautifully modern yet elegant designs are unlike anything else.
