We love traveling to exotic destinations in the summer. But with our long Canadian winters, sometimes it’s even more satisfying to kick back in Canada during its warm weather peak. Weekends at the cottage can be blissful, but why not enjoy our diverse Ontario cities?
Hamilton and Toronto offer a wide range of festivals every weekend in the summer. Whether you’re a foodie, thespian, or a music lover; into crafts and artisanal items or flowers; there’s something for you. Here we’ve listed four of our favourite summer festivals in Hamilton and Toronto. See you there!
July Art Crawl
The next monthly instalment of Hamilton’s quintessential summer festival, Art Crawl, is on Friday July 14th. Enjoy the best of the city’s street food and artisanal vendors on James Street North; set to music, laughter, and a summer evening breeze. Don’t forget to mark Supercrawl on your calendar – this year it falls from September 8th to 10th.
Brott Music Festival
This year the Brott Music Festival is celebrating their 30th season. Brought to music lovers from across Ontario by Hamilton-based but internationally recognized conductor Boris Brott, each concert is themed and features a different professional musician, usually with an orchestra as their backdrop. Toronto celebrates their food and beverage industries every summer with Summerlicious. From July 7th to 23rd, enjoy three-course prix fixe menus served at the city’s top 200 restaurants for lunch and dinner (feel free to double-up on a Saturday or Sunday – we sure will!). Toronto’s Fringe Festival
Ontario’s largest theatre festival runs from July 5th through 16th this year, showcasing 160 plays at 35 venues across the city. It’s a refreshingly inclusive festival, founded in 1989 to provide an outlet for indie, or “fringe” artists in the performing arts.
