Milli is sharing one of her secret recipes! Milli’s Famous Candied Nuts are addictively salty sweet, and the perfect treat for the holidays. Snack on them over mugs of mulled wine. Pair them with spiked hot apple cider and festive cocktails. Pour them into mason jars and tie with ribbon for rustic homemade gifts. No matter how you use these nuts, they’ll have everyone asking for more!



6 cups water

4 cups walnuts

1/2 cup sugar

Mazola salad oil

1/4 teaspoon salt


1.  In a 3 quart saucepan, over high heat, heat water to boiling

2. Add walnuts

3. Reheat to boiling, cook for one minute

4. Rinse under running hot water and drain

5. In a large bowl, toss walnuts in sugar

6. In an electric skillet, heat about one inch of salad oil to 350 degrees

7. With a slotted spoon, add about half of the walnuts to the oil

8. Fry for 5 minutes or until golden, stirring often

9. With slotted spoon, place walnuts in coarse sieve over bowl to drain

10. Sprinkle with salt

11.  Toss lightly to keep walnuts from sticking together

12. Transfer to wax paper to cool

13.  Fry remaining walnuts

14. Store in tightly covered container
